This is a full day introduction to the open source statistical environment R. After a general introduction in the morning, we will learn the basics of R as a calculator, as a way to draw statistical graphics, and as a statistical package. In the afternoon, we will learn basic programming in R: how to write our own functions to automate analyses. The day finishes with a survey of R packages.

The course is presented by Prof. Duncan Murdoch of the Dept. of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences at Western. Prof. Murdoch has been a member of the R core developer team for more than 10 years, and has given numerous talks and short courses on R all around the world.
